The steal of the weekend belongs to the Raiders and McCoy: B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Bru McCoy, the No. 191 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 15. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Jer'Zhan Newton · DL · rank 17
In No. 14 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Carson Beck · QB · rank 41
Good price on Carson Beck in the 46th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 71
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 78 with a little surplus value in Blake Corum. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 110
Nothing to complain about; Tate Ratledge went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Jamon Dumas-Johnson · LB · rank 137
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at slot 151 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · Devontez Walker · WR · rank 152
Devontez Walker at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Bru McCoy · WR · rank 191
The board fumbled Bru McCoy all the way to pick 235, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
