This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Bru McCoy, the No. 191 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 15. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Good price on Carson Beck in the 46th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 78 with a little surplus value in Blake Corum. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nothing to complain about; Tate Ratledge went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at slot 151 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Devontez Walker at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Bru McCoy all the way to pick 235, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
