The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
So much rides on Bo Nix that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jordan.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
Jared Verse in the 18th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
In pick No. 21 they get the arm they will build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Kamari Lassiter, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 4. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Adonai Mitchell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Kalen King at the 42nd pick, value and slot in agreement. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
By-the-book stuff, Mekhi Wingo at No. 67 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 78 with a little surplus value in Blake Corum. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in the 148th overall pick, where Jaheim Bell graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at Round 5, Pick 21 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Aki Ogunbiyi in slot 179; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Isaiah Williams in pick 196, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jawhar Jordan in pick No. 230 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
