Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 251st overall pick on DeMonte Capehart a full 73 spots early.

Bishop falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
They read the board right and Kamren Kinchens was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 9. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick58 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
The board fumbled Tyler Guyton all the way to the 58th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick88 Rnd3 Trey Benson
You do not let a running back like Trey Benson reach No. 88 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Jaden Hicks adds a safety while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick127 Rnd4 Max Melton
A quiet steal in pick No. 127: Max Melton for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick168 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 168 is the definition of value, full stop. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jaylan Ford in slot 204, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick216 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand is a better player than the 216th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick243 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in No. 243 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick251 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick 251 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
