Good, not great, for the 49ers: B-. The 49ers torched the value chart for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, taking him 34 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Dixon pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Patrick Paul. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Max Melton
Max Melton in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick124
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo in pick No. 124 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick131
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the 131st pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick133
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at the 133rd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176
Rnd6
Malik Mustapha
Nothing to complain about; Malik Mustapha went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick211
Rnd6
Johnny Dixon
The board fumbled Johnny Dixon all the way to pick 211, and they scooped it up. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick215
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Frank Gore Jr. at the 215th pick, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick251
Rnd7
Eyabi Okie-Anoma
Value said wait; Eyabi Okie-Anoma in slot 251 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
