The 49ers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Priorities are a choice, and the 49ers made a strange one, taking Josh Newton at cornerback in pick 124 with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots crying out for the pick instead. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Gore Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
