Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC- FutureA+
Grand theft in the 251st pick: the 49ers steal Rosemy-Jacksaint and grade out a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the No. 195 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 251st overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Every board in the league had Cephus lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick63 Rnd2 Marshawn Kneeland
A reach for Marshawn Kneeland in slot 63; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at pick No. 94 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
Value with a capital V on Elijah Jones in Round 4, Pick 31, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick176 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
They talked themselves into Jaylen Harrell at pick 176, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick211 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
They went early on Frank Gore Jr. in the 211th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick215 Rnd6 Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at No. 215 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick251 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 251st pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
