Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-.

The 49ers clearly saw something nobody else did in Javontae Jean-Baptiste, taking him 34 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Sainristil steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In pick 31 they get a building block for the line, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
A tidy little value on Edgerrin Cooper in the 63rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick94 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Roman Wilson in Round 3, Pick 31. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick98 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 98 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick125 Rnd4 James Williams
A premium they did not need to pay, James Williams a notch or two before his time. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick132 Rnd4 Javion Cohen
A big swing on Javion Cohen at the 132nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick176 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy in slot 176 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick209 Rnd6 Daijahn Anthony
A tidy bit of business in No. 209, where Daijahn Anthony graded well above the range. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick214 Rnd6 Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Value said wait; Javontae Jean-Baptiste in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
The board had cheaper options than Tanor Bortolini at the 215th pick, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Zakhari Franklin
A reach on Zakhari Franklin in pick 249; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
