The 49ers let Carson fall and pounced. Final grade: D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the 49ers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The 49ers indulged a want in Carson while a need in wide receiver, quarterback and other spots stayed open. Reaching for Spann-Ford left real value on the table behind him.
The Carson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
