Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Eagles, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The final tally is a middling C.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
If Chop Robinson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 23rd overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Brenden Rice went about where he belonged in slot 98. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Brenden Rice at the 99th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Theo Johnson in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 25 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Kamal Hadden in pick 171, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
