Huskie Badger DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a B-, for the Bears. The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In slot 9 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Max Melton
No drama and no debate, Max Melton went about where he belonged in the 75th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
A tidy little value on Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
