You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cardinals took Kris Abrams-Draine at No. 66, roughly 54 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Trotter Jr.. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 27 they get a bendy edge with upside, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had cheaper options than Patrick Paul at Round 2, Pick 3, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kris Abrams-Draine in the 66th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had Jeremiah Trotter Jr. higher than pick 71, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Spencer Rattler in pick No. 90, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
