Somebody in No. 161 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Jarrian Jones, the No. 136 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The Jones reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 50 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kamari Lassiter in slot 53 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Isaac Guerendo in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jarrian Jones in the 161st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for Jordan Jefferson in pick 171, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Trente Jones in Round 5, Pick 36 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
