jjw924 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Trey Taylor at pick 251 is 46 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
However the rest shakes out, Barrett at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 25th pick they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at No. 41 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 58, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
They took Caelen Carson at par in slot 88, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at Round 3, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127
Rnd4
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
No edge and no loss on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick168
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
Steal is underselling it; Jarrian Jones at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield at the 204th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick216
Rnd6
KT Leveston
A real head-scratcher, KT Leveston in slot 216 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick243
Rnd7
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in pick 243 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick251
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor at pick No. 251 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
