The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and JC Latham fell into pick 97. It nets out a thoroughly average C-.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
If Marvin Harrison Jr. and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 18 they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Terrion Arnold in Round 2, Pick 18 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 97 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 160th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Ben Sinnott in slot 170 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kitan Oladapo at pick No. 178 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Steele Chambers in the 240th overall pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
