The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Franklin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Abrams-Draine pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at the 14th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had Kris Abrams-Draine higher than pick 46, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 14, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Devontez Walker at pick No. 151 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Donovan Edwards was the payoff at No. 163. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A real head-scratcher, Landon Jackson in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Storm Duck. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zakhari Franklin at the 252nd pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
