Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cardinals came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
Neyor falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Adding Jerry Jeudy by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get juice off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 21st pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 66. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 22, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 140, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Steve Linton went about where he belonged in the 188th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, BJ Mayes at the 225th overall pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Neyor reach Round 7, Pick 7 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
