Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Raiders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Benson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nate Wiggins in the Round 1 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Calen Bullock. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Benson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cooper Beebe at No. 77 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, McKinnley Jackson went about where he belonged in the 83rd overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Travis this early at slot 112. The roster fit checks out.
Jaheim Bell at pick 123 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 150 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Grayson Murphy in the 163rd pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
