The Raiders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Dwight McGlothern at the Round 7 slot regardless, 38 picks early. Put together, it is a D-.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Eichenberg pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Jayden Daniels at par in the 10th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
In the 13th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A real head-scratcher, Beaux Limmer in No. 113 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take LaDarius Henderson this early at slot 147. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Luke McCaffrey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 171 is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had Justin Rogers higher than No. 178, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dwight McGlothern at the 231st pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
