The Jack Westover pick is the one that will follow the Vikings into the fall. They took him 77 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
Everything downstream of Drake Maye depends on Drake Maye, and the building knows it. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They banked enough surplus on Ford to cover a lot of smaller sins.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 18 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
In slot 24 they get an anchor for the defensive front, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Nubin at the 49th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ja'Lynn Polk slid further than he should have, and pick No. 87 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Beaux Limmer this early at Round 4, Pick 8. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Trevor Keegan at pick 129, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jarrian Jones in slot 149 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tommy Eichenberg in pick No. 157. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid up for Grayson Murphy at the 167th pick when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Kendall Milton at the 177th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaylan Ford in Round 7, Pick 10 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
