Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Steelers spent No. 119 on J.J. Weaver, a name the board had a full 109 spots lower. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on James to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The Powers-Johnson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, safety and other spots still on the board. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
