The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Spencer Rattler, taking him 47 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Johnson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value said wait; Spencer Rattler in the 44th overall pick says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and T'Vondre Sweat was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in pick 112: Blake Fisher for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cedric Gray at Round 5, Pick 14 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
The board fumbled Theo Johnson all the way to slot 190, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Daequan Hardy slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 14 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
