The trade table was a mismatch, and the Raiders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jackson.
The Avonte Maddox deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
J.J. McCarthy at the 44th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in No. 77. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let McKinnley Jackson come to them and pounced at slot 97. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tommy Eichenberg at Round 4, Pick 12 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
The board had cheaper options than LaDarius Henderson at pick 150, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Harrell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kenny Logan Jr. in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
By-the-book stuff, Matthew Jones at slot 234 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
