Jakpot1277 DRAFTING FOR THECommanders

Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
A-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureA+
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a A-, for the Commanders. The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Liufau pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at tight end, running back and other spots.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Guyton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In the end it comes back to Jayden Daniels, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels at the Round 1 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick36
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
They paid sticker price for Troy Fautanu in pick 36, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
A conviction pick on Tyler Guyton at the 40th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 67 with a little surplus value in Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick100
Rnd3
Marist Liufau
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 100 on Marist Liufau with tight end, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick102
Rnd4
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in Round 4, Pick 2 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick141
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
Nelson Ceaser in the 141st pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick181
Rnd6
Justin Eboigbe
No edge and no loss on Justin Eboigbe in No. 181; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick182
Rnd6
Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather in No. 182 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223
Rnd7
BJ Mayes
Fair-plus on BJ Mayes, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
