The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Tahj Washington slide 42 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They will need Rattler to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 17 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kamari Lassiter at the 44th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Darius Robinson at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Spencer Rattler this early at the 77th pick. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Will Shipley in Round 4, Pick 12, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in No. 148, with Sataoa Laumea worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jha'Quan Jackson at pick 208 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Curtis Jacobs slipping to slot 212 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Evan Williams slid further than he should have, and pick 223 is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Tahj Washington at pick No. 229 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
