Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
Larceny in the Round 7 slot lands the Steelers a B+, White and all.

The Steelers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ricky White, the No. 178 name on the board, in pick 237. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the 21st overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. More want than need.
Pick48 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
A tidy bit of business in pick 48, where Nate Wiggins graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Cooper Beebe in pick No. 67 leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick80 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore in No. 80 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick81 Rnd3 Marist Liufau
By-the-book stuff, Marist Liufau at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick116 Rnd4 Cam Hart
They let Cam Hart come to them and pounced at slot 116. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at Round 4, Pick 21 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick158 Rnd5 Gerald Mincey
No drama and no debate, Gerald Mincey went about where he belonged in the 158th pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick194 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in Round 6, Pick 19 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick237 Rnd7 Ricky White
Steal is underselling it; Ricky White at slot 237 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
