Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB- TradesA FutureA+
The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Pearsall: A-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ricky Pearsall got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at No. 122. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

Reaching for Johnson Jr. left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, with Kamari Lassiter leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick55 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter in the 55th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick64 Rnd2 Sedrick Van Pran
They reached into another round for Sedrick Van Pran, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jermaine Burton
They will replay Jermaine Burton at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122 Rnd4 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall in Round 4, Pick 22 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick201 Rnd6 Zion Nelson
Zion Nelson at pick No. 201 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick244 Rnd7 Montrell Johnson Jr.
They talked themselves into Montrell Johnson Jr. at No. 244, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
