Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
The Steelers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still glaring, the Steelers used No. 120 on Sataoa Laumea, an offensive lineman they were not exactly short of.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Gray has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The DeJean pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get an island corner, and a steal at that.
Pick85 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in pick 85 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jamari Thrash
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jamari Thrash. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick120 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Sataoa Laumea while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
The board had cheaper options than Cedric Gray at the 121st pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick199 Rnd6 Erick All
Erick All in No. 199 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick242 Rnd7 Donovan Jennings
They paid sticker price for Donovan Jennings in Round 7, Pick 22, and that is fine. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
