Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Barrett: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Michael Barrett, the No. 189 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 16. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Taylor III proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 23rd overall pick they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
They will replay Chop Robinson at slot 59 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
They reached a country mile for Leonard Taylor III at pick 85, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara in the 124th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128 Rnd4 Sione Vaki
A reach on Sione Vaki in Round 4, Pick 28; the board had better options right there. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick161 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green slipping to pick No. 161 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick236 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Somehow Michael Barrett was still sitting there in No. 236, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick245 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
A premium they did not need to pay, Joshua Cephus a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
