UNLV Rebels 2026 Preview: Boise State Gone, Rebels Reload for a Mountain West Crown

UNLV went 10-4 (6-2) in Dan Mullen's debut season, a year that ended one rung short again as the Rebels lost their third straight Mountain West Championship Game to Boise State and then fell to Ohio in the Frisco Bowl. With Boise State now leaving for the Pac-12, the road to a first league title since the mid-1990s looks clearer than it has in a long time, and the Rebels are widely regarded as reloading rather than rebuilding.

The defining offseason story sits at quarterback. Anthony Colandrea, the reigning Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, was lured to Nebraska, so Mullen rebuilt the position through the transfer portal. Entering his second season, Mullen has the Rebels pegged as a top-two contender in the conference, and by one measure the outright favorite to win it.
