Draft Profile: Bio
Born and bred in the Mountain State, Wyatt Milum emerged as the premier offensive line prospect in West Virginia history, living up to his billing as the state's top-ranked tackle recruit. The Spring Valley High School product brought an impressive pedigree to Morgantown, earning Sports Illustrated All-American honors and the prestigious Joe Stydahar Award as the state's top lineman. His high school dominance translated immediately to the college level, where he earned Freshman All-American honors while starting eight games at right tackle.

Milum's collegiate career arc shows the steady development NFL teams covet. After that promising freshman campaign, he locked down the left tackle spot and started 31 consecutive games when healthy. His technical refinement showed in the stats - after allowing three sacks as a freshman, he pitched a perfect game in pass protection over his final three seasons. The 2023 campaign was particularly impressive as he allowed zero sacks and just eight pressures across 753 snaps, earning Second-Team All-Big 12 honors while anchoring an offensive line that led all Power 5 schools in rushing.

A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, he showed leadership as an Iron Mountaineer Award recipient in 2024. His durability and availability stand out - he logged nearly 3,000 offensive snaps across 47 games, grading out above 92% in 11 of 12 games during his final season while recording 75 great blocks and 49 knockdowns.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Devastating power in his initial punch - delivers a jolting strike that instantly stuns defenders and allows him to dictate the engagement from first contact
  • Exceptional processing skills when handling stunts and twists - maintains proper spacing and shows veteran-level awareness in picking up delayed rushers
  • Nasty finisher in the run game who brings his feet through contact - consistently creates movement on down blocks and maintains blocks through the whistle
  • Elite anchor strength against power rushers - drops his hips quickly and shows tremendous core strength to absorb bull rushes without giving ground
  • Quick processor who excels at reading defensive front movements - rarely fooled by pre-snap shifts or post-snap stunts
  • Advanced hand usage in pass protection - varies his strike timing and placement while showing an effective independent hand punch
  • Explosive first step allows him to beat defenders to the spot - consistently wins the race to the edge against wide rushers
  • Natural knee bender who plays with consistent leverage - maintains solid pad level through entire reps despite his height
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Below-average arm length creates challenges maintaining distance from defenders - can get overwhelmed when rushers get into his chest
  • Shows some stiffness redirecting against inside counter moves - will occasionally get caught flat-footed against skilled edge rushers
  • Tendency to lean forward and drop his head in the run game - leads to some whiffs against quicker defensive linemen
  • Limited experience pulling and working in space - needs development reading moving targets at the second level
  • Top-heavy frame with a long torso creates occasional balance issues - can get overextended trying to recover against speed rushes
Scouting Report: Summary
Looking ahead to the NFL, Milum projects as a high-floor prospect who could contribute immediately at either tackle spot while offering legitimate guard flexibility. His technical refinement, processing ability, and anchor strength should translate well to the pro game, particularly in a gap/power run scheme that maximizes his ability to fire off the ball and create vertical movement.

While his arm length limitations and athletic constraints might push some teams to view him as a guard prospect, his track record of excellence in pass protection suggests he can stick at tackle. His skill set and mentality would fit perfectly with teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers or Cleveland Browns who emphasize power running while asking their tackles to win with technique rather than elite athleticism.

The floor here is a quality swing tackle who can start in a pinch, but Milum's ceiling is that of a longtime NFL starter who excels in the run game while holding his own against all but the elite pass rushers. His combination of power, technical prowess, and proven production should make him a viable target early on Day 2, with the potential to sneak into the back of Round 1 for teams prioritizing ready-made offensive line help.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
