Draft Profile: Bio
Wanya Morris from Grayson High School was rated a 5-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 5-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Morris opted to join Tennessee. In 2019 as a freshman Morris saw action in 13 games and played a total of 643 snaps for the Volunteers. He allowed 11 QB hurries, 9 QB hits, and 5 sacks while playing most of his snaps at left tackle.
As a sophomore in 2020 he played in 9 games and a total of 398 snaps. He conceded 7 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing most of his snaps at left tackle.
After the end of the season Morris transferred to Oklahoma where as a junior Morris saw action in 6 games and totaled 126 snaps. He gave up just one QB hurry, no QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at left tackle, and the rest at tight tackle.
In 2022 as a senior Morris saw action in 9 games and played a total of 580 snaps for the Sooners. He allowed 4 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing at right tackle.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Morris will have a chance to develop as a right tackle or possibly inside at guard, where Morris could be an interesting prospect for a zone-blocking team. If nothing else, that versatility is enough to make him at least a quality reserve.
- He is a work in progress with high-end physical traits. He’s extremely light on his feet for a 300-pounder, a natural knee bender who plays with balance and leverage.
- He thrives on physicality, often out-grappling bigger defensive linemen and winning in the phone booth with tenacity and upper-body strength.
- He flashes power and nastiness in the run game, able to win at the point of attack and athletic enough to get out as a pulling blocker before landing blocks on the move at the second level.
- Understands angles and plays with good leverage. Morris has long arms and heavy hands, using them effectively in pass protection, and he has a strong enough initial punch to get an edge on quick sets.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- For all of his physical gifts, often gets sloppy, especially in pass protection.
- Had issues against quality counter moves, struggling to readjust. That’s something he’ll see frequently against NFL technicians in the pass rush.
- Sometimes struggle to recalibrate at the second level against moving bodies.
- Is a little too much of a waist bender, and Morris doesn’t play with ideal power and functional strength. Most concerning - he often gets caught dropping his head, a bad habit that will have to be corrected.

For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
