Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Bothroyd is strong enough in the lower body to hold up at the point of attack, and Bothroyd displays a good feel as a grappler in the phone booth, consistently getting blockers off-balance before sending them to the ground.
  • He shows good quickness off the line of scrimmage and flashes the violent hands to win around the edge.
  • Naturally explosive player with decent get-off speed. Balanced through contact and stout against double-teams. Tackles through the ball. Versatile and has the body type to play many roles.
  • His handwork is excellent. Bothroyd is tough against the run, playing with a firm base when setting the edge and showing the upper-body strength to stack and shed blockers.
  • Adequate change-of-direction agility and straight-line speed to contain.
  • Possesses accurate snap anticipation and timing to beat blockers off the edge.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • With neither elite strength nor elite speed, Bothroyd lacks one standout trait.
  • Bothroyd doesn’t show much in the way of dynamic change-of-direction ability on counter moves, and he also has a limited repertoire of pass-rushing moves.
  • Bothroyd doesn't have the elite quickness or flexibility to flatten off the edge against NFL blockers and might have to add bulk to be a 3-4 defense five-technique, or strong-side end in a 4-3.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
