Rashawn Slater enters the 2021 NFL Draft as one of the most highly regarded offensive line prospects in the country after a dominant 2019 season that set the table for a breakout 2020 campaign but Slater opted out of his final season at Northwestern when the football season was in a state of flux. He said he felt as if a winter or spring season did not allow enough time for recovery and training to step into the NFL and thrive as a rookie.

Slater’s mobility and athleticism are obvious as soon as he steps on the field. He is quick at the snaps. Slater is able to keep the edge, as he moves his feet really quickly. His quickness allows him to pull, make blocks on the second level and recover well if he needs to.

He is a great pass blocker and uses his athleticism and mobility to stay in front of pass rushers. He only allowed five sacks in his time at Northwestern and had a great performance against quality NFL prospect Chase Young in 2019.

He checked in at 6-4 1/4 and 304 pounds at Northwestern's pro day workout and ran his 40-yard dashes in 4.88 and 4.94 seconds. He also pushed out 33 repetitions of the 225-pound bench press, showing his unique combination of size and strength.

Slater can play anywhere along the line and that versatility will certainly help - whilst he could play tackle in the NFL some are projecting that he will move inside where he has the potential to be a standout performer. Likely to be a mid-first-round pick he could prove excellent value for a team looking to upgrade its line and add a very flexible piece.
