Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s at his best facing the line of scrimmage, when he’s able to use his body to box out defenders. Castles runs well after the catch and will work as a blocker downfield.
- He transitions quickly from receiver to runner, and Castles has enough speed to threaten the seam.
- And showed the ability to get in and out of cuts and create separation. He’s a coordinated hands catcher and extremely violent after the catch, seeking out contact and lowering his shoulder to deliver hits while carrying the ball. Castles has surprising straight-line speed.
- Soft hands. Flashes good to very good tracking and overall body control to make catches outside of his frame.
- Quick feet and good balance to create separation on stick and post routes.
- Catches well in traffic, shields the ball from defenders with his frame, and holds on despite being hit. Will fully extend, snatch, and stay in bounds.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- While Castles has the athleticism to be a catch-and-run threat, he never seemed comfortable catching, gathering, and transitioning to a runner.
- Castles also had problems with drops when coming back to the action. He has some issues against press coverage, sometimes spending too much time hand fighting at the line of scrimmage.
- Castles seems comfortable in traffic to the point where he doesn’t make the effort to create separation.
