Draft Profile: Bio

Landon Jackson, a defensive end from Texarkana, Texas, made his mark early at Pleasant Grove High School. He recorded over 45 sacks and helped his team win the Texas 4A D-II state championship as a junior. Jackson was named Texas Sports Writers Association 4A Defensive Player of the Year and MaxPreps First-Team All-American.

Jackson began his college career at LSU, playing in five games on special teams as a freshman. After transferring to Arkansas, he became a key player for the Razorbacks. In 2022, he played in all 13 games, starting seven, and recorded 23 tackles, three sacks, and 3.5 tackles for loss. His 2023 season was even more impressive, with Jackson earning First-Team All-SEC honors from coaches and Second-Team All-SEC from the Associated Press, leading the team with 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.

In 2023, Jackson posted career-best numbers, including 44 total tackles. His performance against Alabama, where he recorded 11 tackles and 3.5 sacks, earned him SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week and Bednarik Award Player of the Week.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • First-step quickness off the snap allows him to disrupt plays early.
  • Uses hands effectively to shed blockers and execute pass-rush moves.
  • Outstanding length aids in maintaining gap control and batting down passes.
  • Relentless motor ensures he plays through the whistle, securing second-effort plays.
  • Excellent ankle flexion for his size, allowing him to bend around the edge effectively.
  • Versatile defender, capable of playing multiple techniques along the defensive line.
  • Strong football IQ, particularly in recognizing and reacting to offensive schemes.
  • Physically imposing with a muscular frame that intimidates opposing linemen.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Struggles with power at the point of attack, often getting stalled by stronger linemen.
  • Tends to play with high pad level, affecting leverage and balance.
  • Limited repertoire of pass-rush moves, needing further development to diversify his attack.
  • Shows stiffness in lateral movements, hindering his ability to change directions quickly.
  • Inconsistent reaction times off the snap, occasionally giving blockers an early advantage.
Scouting Report: Summary

Landon Jackson brings the physical tools NFL scouts love in an edge rusher. His standout 2023 season at Arkansas showcased his explosive first step, effective hand usage, and ability to set the edge. Jackson's size and length make him a threat in both pass-rush and run-stopping situations, projecting him as a versatile defensive end.

However, Jackson has areas that need improvement. His pad level can rise, affecting his leverage and power against stronger offensive linemen. His lateral movement shows some stiffness, which could limit his effectiveness in the run game and when executing advanced pass-rush moves. These technical aspects will require coaching and development at the next level.

In the NFL, Jackson has the potential to develop into a solid starter. His blend of length, quickness, and relentless motor gives him a strong foundation to build upon.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
