Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Combines very good instincts with above-average reaction skills. Almost always finds the ball in traffic.
  • Patterson shows good quickness off the line of scrimmage and flashes the violent hands to win around the edge.
  • Adequate straight-line speed to get to the edge. Gains good depth on his pass drops.
  • Tougher between the tackles than many expect. Fluid and quick drop into zone, covers enough ground to be Tampa-2 "MIKE" and knows where the markers are.
  • Quick to read run, showing good agility and speed to get past blockers and finish. Experienced in coverage and gets a strong jam on outside receivers.
  • Being under six feet without the speed to transition outside, Patterson has to scratch out a role in the 4-3 as an undersized producer. His instincts, burst and reliable open-field tackling give him a chance to do precisely that.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Patterson doesn’t play with the functional strength and physicality to fight through blocks; he’ll need to be covered up in order to maximize his playmaking.
  • He’s not a guy who can be put on the edge every down and be expected to consistently create pressure.
  • As a pass rusher, Patterson needs the scheme to create deception and confusion to give him a free run.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
