A 6'5", 244-pound tight end from Seattle, Washington, Velling transferred to Michigan State in January 2024 after two productive seasons at Oregon State. Set the Beavers' single-season touchdown record for tight ends with eight scores in 2023, tied for most among FBS tight ends during regular season. Named to the Mackey Award Watch List, totaling 45 receptions for 719 yards and 11 touchdowns across his collegiate career.Three-star recruit out of Seattle Prep School, Velling stepped into a starting role at Oregon State following an injury to Luke Musgrave. In 2023, started 11 games, recording 29 catches for 438 yards and eight touchdowns. Posted career-best performance with five receptions for 71 yards against Arizona, including a 22-yard touchdown. Notched three touchdown catches in victory at Cal.
