Draft Profile: Bio

As a sophomore in 2020 he played in 8 games and a total of 375 snaps. He conceded just one QB hurry, 3 QB hits, and no sacks while playing most of his snaps at right guard.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Nester will have a chance to develop as a right tackle or possibly inside at guard, where Nester could be an interesting prospect for a zone-blocking team. If nothing else, that versatility is enough to make him at least a quality reserve.
  • In the run game, he shows good burst off the line of scrimmage, with the ability to win at the point of attack. He has enough speed and athleticism to move to the second level and land blocks.
  • Best asset is his strength and disposition as a run blocker. Gives a strong initial punch. Plays with good leverage bends at the knees and sees what he's hitting, showing the ability to roll his hips into the defender and drive him off the line of scrimmage.
  • Fires out of his stance with a good pad level, consistently winning at the point of attack.
  • Dips shoulder and moves his feet to get outside leverage when needed. Strong and low coming out of his stance, effective in short-yardage situations.
  • Nester does a nice job working with teammates to build the pocket, anchoring against bull rushers and displaying good awareness against stunts and twists.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area.
  • His hands aren’t violent enough to stand pass rushers up early in the down, and Nester generally plays with poor balance.
  • Often gets too high in his sets, sacrificing some of his power, and he doesn’t show great coordination between his upper and lower body when sliding back in pass protection.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
