Scouting Report: Strengths
- Doesn't possess elite breakaway speed, but is fast enough to gain yardage in chunks when Rodriguez finds a seam.
- A big back with very good feet. He’s a decisive runner with good vision; he’ll locate his hole and get through it more quickly than you’d expect considering his size.
- Not truly explosive, but possesses enough speed to beat linebacker to the edge.
- Rodriguez brings a nice blend of size, speed and power. His best attribute is his relentlessness; he consistently thrashes through tacklers to turn minimal gains into long ones.
- He shows very good balance between the tackles, running behind his pads and packing the power to move a pile. Rodriguez shows good vision and can exploit cut-back lanes.
- Fights for extra yardage and is reliable in short-yardage situations.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Rodriguez really isn’t a guy who will create a lot of separation.
- He’s more of a cut blocker in pass protection as opposed to a guy who will stick his face in against the blitz, although that is a correctable flaw.
- Rodriguez can sometimes be impatient, not allowing his blocks to set up, a nuance required for backs to last a decade-plus.
