The Detroit Lions selected the Michigan defensive end Hutchinson with the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. After being the betting favorite to go No. 1 until early this week, being surpassed by No. 1 pick Travon Walker, Hutchinson finds a home with the second pick to Detroit. Hutchinson closed north of -200 to be the second pick.
Hutchinson, the Plymouth, Michigan native and Heisman Trophy runner-up joins his local team with the Lions, who are looking to improve after a dismal 3-13-1 season under first year head coach.
The Michigan product was seen as the overwhelming favorite to be the first pick, reaching as high as -300 at WynnBET Sportsbook, but closed as the favorite to be the second pick by draft night. When the market closed, Hutchinson closed -250 to be the No. 2 pick, ahead of fellow pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Ahead of the draft, the Lions were tied for the second longest odds to win Super Bowl 57 at +15000 (bet $100 to profit $15,000) at WynnBET.
