Draft Grade — Saints
Overall

FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Saints and Higgins: B+. You could see the war room lean forward. Jayden Higgins at the 93rd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Cook reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Saints clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
They liked Landon Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 1 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick40
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
A tidy little value on Wyatt Milum in Round 2, Pick 8, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the 49th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick54
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland at pick 54 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick66
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 66 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick72
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
No edge and no loss on Omarr Norman-Lott in slot 72; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in the 93rd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick112
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach No. 112 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick131
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
They barely believed it either: Lathan Ransom still on the board at the Round 4 slot. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick133
Rnd4
Trevor Etienne
They paid a round early for Trevor Etienne in No. 133, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
A reach for Jah Joyner in Round 5, Pick 11; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in the 184th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189
Rnd6
Thomas Fidone II
The board had cheaper options than Thomas Fidone II at pick No. 189, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick211
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac TeSlaa. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
They paid sticker price for Jermari Harris in the 232nd pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick233
Rnd7
Sam Brown Jr.
They went early on Sam Brown Jr. in pick 233, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick248
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at the 248th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick254
Rnd7
Brady Cook
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brady Cook this early at slot 254. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
