Draft Grade — Bengals

The Bengals let Fannin Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somebody in No. 81 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Harold Fannin Jr., the No. 53 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They will answer for taking edge rusher early while wide receiver, linebacker and other spots went begging. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the 25th pick they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick55
Rnd2
Mike Green
A surprising call. With wide receiver, linebacker and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 2 slot on Mike Green, an edge rusher they were not short of.
Pick58
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos slid further than he should have, and the 58th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
You do not let a tight end like Harold Fannin Jr. reach pick No. 81 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick119
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at slot 119 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick153
Rnd5
Luke Kandra
They took Luke Kandra at par in pick 153, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in No. 166 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick181
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at Round 6, Pick 5 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick193
Rnd6
CJ West
Nothing to complain about; CJ West went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
