JGB1969 DRAFTING FOR THEBengals

FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bengals and Emmanwori: B. Call it larceny. Nick Emmanwori sat on the board until the 56th pick, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice.
Reaching for Hemingway left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick55
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
Fair-plus on Josaiah Stewart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick56
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in the 56th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Tyleik Williams in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander in pick No. 89 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Emery Jones Jr. at Round 4, Pick 17, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jackson Slater
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jackson Slater at the 158th pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick170
Rnd5
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at slot 170 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick193
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
They paid sticker price for Oronde Gadsden II in No. 193, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jonah Monheim
Steal is underselling it; Jonah Monheim at the 204th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick206
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray in pick No. 206 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick211
Rnd6
Ricky White III
A premium they did not need to pay, Ricky White III a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236
Rnd7
Desmond Watson
They did well to land Desmond Watson in Round 7, Pick 20, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick239
Rnd7
Ahmed Hassanein
Ahmed Hassanein at pick 239 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick241
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
They paid a round early for Tonka Hemingway in the 241st pick, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick256
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
They barely believed it either: Isaac TeSlaa still on the board at the Round 7 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
