FutureF
The Seahawks went off-script early, and it cost them a F. The Seahawks spent real capital to be 38 picks early on Jackson Hawes, and the board is going to hold them to it. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Landing Brooks that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left edge rusher open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In pick No. 18 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in pick 39 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick41
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at the 41st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick72
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at slot 72 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick148
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Bryant. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172
Rnd5
Upton Stout
A wild overpay on Upton Stout in pick No. 172, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick175
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at No. 175 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes in the 223rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick233
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
No edge and no loss on Cam Jackson in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Tahj Brooks in pick 234, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
