Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

FutureB-
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: D-. The phones were a trap the Raiders kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
Whatever Fernando Mendoza becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Every board in the league had Campbell lower, and that gap is the story.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Singleton.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In the 2nd overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
Pick16
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a two-high chess piece, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick36
Rnd2
Colton Hood
They paid sticker price for Colton Hood in the 36th pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Good price on Deontae Lawson in No. 67, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick102
Rnd4
Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton is a better player than pick 102 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Skyler Bell
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Skyler Bell for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick117
Rnd4
Nicholas Singleton
The board fumbled Nicholas Singleton all the way to pick No. 117, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick134
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A surprising call. With edge rusher and interior defensive lineman still to address, they spent slot 134 on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, a safety they were not short of.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at No. 139 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Keylan Rutledge
No drama and no debate, Keylan Rutledge went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 6. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick147
Rnd5
Niki Prongos
Fair-plus on Niki Prongos, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jaden Greathouse
They did well to land Jaden Greathouse in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jalen Stroman
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Stroman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick178
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol in pick 178 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at the 182nd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick185
Rnd6
Aamil Wagner
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aamil Wagner. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson at pick No. 206 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick219
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in pick 219 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings at Round 7, Pick 32 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
