Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
A
ValueA-

FutureA
The Cowboys let Sadiq fall and pounced. Final grade: A. Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Kenyon Sadiq, the No. 19 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will answer for taking safety early while interior defensive lineman went begging. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Bottom line, with Caleb Downs leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 2nd pick they get the heartbeat of the defense at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick19
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick No. 19 they get an enforcer at safety, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jeremiyah Love
You do not let a running back like Jeremiyah Love reach slot 33 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick38
Rnd2
Mansoor Delane
They will replay Mansoor Delane at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy at the 39th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at Round 3, Pick 4 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75
Rnd3
David Bailey
The board fumbled David Bailey all the way to No. 75, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick102
Rnd4
Spencer Fano
Spencer Fano in pick 102 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112
Rnd4
Kamari Ramsey
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman to take Kamari Ramsey, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick150
Rnd5
Colton Hood
Colton Hood in Round 5, Pick 12 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177
Rnd5
Kenyon Sadiq
Somehow Kenyon Sadiq was still sitting there in No. 177, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jake Slaughter
Circle this one: Jake Slaughter at pick 195 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick201
Rnd6
Germie Bernard
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Germie Bernard in the 201st pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick206
Rnd6
Akheem Mesidor
Akheem Mesidor at pick No. 206 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick218
Rnd7
Trinidad Chambliss
They barely believed it either: Trinidad Chambliss still on the board at the Round 7 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
