Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bengals got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bengals, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.

They will answer for taking edge rusher early while wide receiver and quarterback went begging. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Sanders to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In pick No. 17 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. More want than need.
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick 30 they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
A want over a need in the 49th overall pick: JT Tuimoloau adds an edge rusher while wide receiver and quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick81 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams at No. 81 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at Round 4, Pick 17 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick153 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
No edge and no loss on O'Donnell Fortune in the 153rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
No drama and no debate, Jonah Monheim went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick193 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at slot 193 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the 206th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
