Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
The Colts won the night they stopped Riley from sliding. Grade: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Colts watched Quincy Riley slide 55 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick28 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Warren at pick No. 28 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick55 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Nice patience on Xavier Watts, who had no business lasting to slot 55. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick80 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger slipping to the 80th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jordan James
Jordan James in the 117th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick151 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
The board had Hollin Pierce higher than pick 151, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick189 Rnd6 Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke in No. 189 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick232 Rnd7 Quincy Riley
Circle this one: Quincy Riley at Round 7, Pick 16 is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
