Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Steelers a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Steelers did exactly that with Da'Shawn Womack in the 214th overall pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The Weigman value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordyn Tyson at the Round 1 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick53 Rnd2 Keionte Scott
A big swing on Keionte Scott at the 53rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick76 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
They took Caleb Tiernan at par in pick 76, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick85 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in Round 3, Pick 21 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss in the 99th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick121 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
A slide stopped in pick No. 121, with Zachariah Branch worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick136 Rnd4 Le'Veon Moss
This one needs a full-page explanation: Le'Veon Moss in the Round 4 slot, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
No drama and no debate, Jermaine Mathews Jr. went about where he belonged in pick 160. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick213 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nolan Rucci. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick214 Rnd6 Da'Shawn Womack
They talked themselves into Da'Shawn Womack at Round 6, Pick 34, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick224 Rnd7 Conner Weigman
Steal is underselling it; Conner Weigman at No. 224 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jalen Catalon
No edge and no loss on Jalen Catalon in the 237th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
