FutureB-
The Steelers let Moss fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+. The Steelers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
With edge rusher and linebacker unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. The Moss steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Hall has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Chris Bell
In pick No. 31 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick53
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
They read the board right and Olaivavega Ioane was the payoff at the 53rd overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick63
Rnd2
Eli Stowers
They paid sticker price for Eli Stowers in No. 63, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott at Round 3, Pick 12 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick85
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley slid further than he should have, and the 85th pick is lovely value for the safety. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
Good price on Daylen Everette in slot 99, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick135
Rnd4
Kage Casey
A curious use of Round 4, Pick 35. Edge rusher and linebacker needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Kage Casey did not.
Pick159
Rnd5
Zane Durant
Zane Durant at the 159th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Quinten Joyner
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Quinten Joyner. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick213
Rnd6
Fernando Carmona
By-the-book stuff, Fernando Carmona at pick 213 squarely in line with his ranking. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick214
Rnd6
Miller Moss
Steal is underselling it; Miller Moss at the 214th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick224
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 224 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
They paid a round early for Jordan Hall in pick No. 237, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
